Is it just me or are we over expecting the new iPad? I think the new iPad looks as good as iPad 2. Unfortunately, that is because it looks exactly the same. When you turn the device on, okay it is different. The screen is awesome, as well as the new chip, camera, and radios. All of them are good updates, but none of them are “fundamental different.”
Beside the new iPad, Apple also unveiled the new Apple TV, which is also similar with the predecessor, only with 1080p support.
Back to the iPad, Apple wasn’t even change the CPU. Instead of using the A6 chip, they use the A5X, which is a necessary update to run 3.1 million pixels with cinematic effects. Forget the rumors about Apple’s streaming TV service or their HDTV set. The real company’s plan for your living room is actually there, in the form of iPad. It is not only because iPad is a great web browser. From the first time launched, iPad is a great provider content with networks such as ABC and NBC for the full-length show.
Video isn’t the only growing aspect for the iPad. Game developers also notice it with the titles such as Infinite Blade 2, RAGE HD, and Grand Theft Auto is expanding iPad’s use among people. I know iPhone and Android also play a big part for mobile gaming, but the improved graphics on the tablet makes the developers think it is possible to make their non-console game.
The key part for iPad is the ability to bring the content from its small screen into HDTV. It is when Apple introduced the Apple TV2 with AirPlay to allow us to connect our iPhone and iPad into the Apple TV. If the future Apple TV features a higher quality video, I think iPad will still be the center of our entertainment. The implication is, iPad will control your living room whether for a remote control or for your games.
