There are a lot of evidences that Apple is currently developing a television set. The latest evidence is that they are filed a patent for a new kind of touchscreen remote control last September. The patent has been made to public on Thursday and first reported by Apple Insider. It claims that it would be a simpler remote in two ways: Only shows the relevant or frequently used controls and automatically detect and configure itself to control the user’s devices.
The patent has made the recent discussion about Apple TV makes a lot of sense. After in the Steve Jobs’ biography by Walter Isaacson revealed that Apple is currently developing a TV set, many people expect it to use Siri, the voice recognition feature in the iPhone 4S. After that, there are rumors about the screen sizes and gesture controls.
For me, the super-smart remote concept really sounds like Apple: They make something we want far before we even think about it.
Touchscreen remote controls are not a new thing in the market. Previously, Logitech released the Harmony 1000 although there are still several hard buttons and not many products were sold.
