The hot topic on gaming industry is of course the freemium gaming version. Freemium means that you will get free access to the game, but you will be charged for game content such as gameplay advantages, customization, and more. The benefit from this kind of service is of course that you will get an extra point in promotion with your “free” status, but still earning money from in-game market at the same time.
Both reasons have made freemium game sustainable and increasingly popular in today’s gaming market as the in-game purchases are accounted for 72% of the App Store revenue. Unfortunately, freemium games also have some controversial side as it entices you to spend your money. For example, you will have to wait for a long time unless you use some credits. The other implementation is when you can’t use all the game tools unless you pay the price.
Interestingly, the freemium games publishers even called the psychologists in order to make their service more interesting to the users. According to an analytics firm, Flurry, there are around 05% to 6% of the freemium gamers become paying customers. Of course this is the main target for freemium game developers. We can also see these kind of things in some new social networks. Seems like money is getting more important today, right?
