Tim Westergren, the founder and chief strategy officer of Pandora has announced on Tuesday that their growth was doubled after they launch it on iPhone. Westergren said on the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco that his business has completely changed in a night. For your information, Pandora has been working for 11 years from only a simple desktop computer radio into a real radio like today thanks to the booming of mobile market.
As people are now using their phones and plugging them on their cars and living rooms, Pandora is growing. There is seventy percent of Pandora users are coming from mobile devices. According to Westergern, the great thing about Pandora is that they provide various music. There are 900,000 songs in their library and 95 percent of them are from July.
Moreover, Westergren said that they don’t worry about the rise of his competitors such as Spotify, Rdio, and many others. He also claims that people use 80% of their music time on radio, while only 20% on streaming service. Westergren also said that radio is different with on-demand music service, so he doesn’t need to worry about that kind of competition.
