Who Owns Your Identity on Social Sites?

We are used to give our official identification for many things. In an election, when the officer pulled us over for speeding, and more. It is a common thing in the real world, but what about in the web? In the old days, we have to register in almost every site to access some functionality. But now, there are Facebook, Twitter, and Google allowing us to log into some sites with our ID on those sites.

We all know that registering on web will give access to our personal data such as name and email. Most of the services only use it to post your feeds. So, there is still no problem yet, as long as this power is still used wisely. We know that on the terms and licenses, the site always said that they will use our data wisely, but like people said: easier said than done.

So now, the question is “How can we prevent the media companies from abusing the access to our identity?” It is still became a topic with great concern about Identity management or more specifically, identity ownership. The only agreement until now is that the “driver’s license” of the internet has a very long road of obstacles.
