Hacking is more familiar to our PCs. But with the increasing importance of our smartphone (which will overcome our PC soon), the safe our our mobile computing might come to an end. Some said that you won’t be a target if you are not a celebrity or an important person. But when it is very easy to hack a smartphone, anyone can be a victim.
In some cases, phone hacking is the branch of a big PC hacking. But Robert Siciliano, a consultant and identity theft expert from McAfee said that the easiest way is with social engineering, or something that we call lying. Yes, it is that simple. For example, I could call you and claim that I’m from the phone company and need to update your account, so I need your password.
There is an even easier way. Sometimes, people left a default password that was given by the carriers as their personal password. Unfortunately, the hackers guessed it correctly. Siciliano said that Android users are less secure as anyone could upload their apps directly to Android Market. Once you install a wrong app on your phone, your data will be stolen. So, are you still think that mobile computing is still safe?
